In March 2026, the African Leadership Transformation (ALT) Foundation will celebrate seven years since its launch in March 2019 — seven years of bold experimentation, unwavering resilience, and a deep belief that leadership, not aid, is the key to an Africa that works for everyone.
Yet the journey has been anything but linear.
Only a year after our launch, we were at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana — delivering our very first course — when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Overnight, the world shut down. Institutions froze. Travel stopped. And leadership training, as we knew it, was no longer possible.
But it was in this moment of disruption that ALT discovered its defining strength: reinvention.
During the pandemic, ALT pivoted decisively into online learning. Out of that crisis emerged the African Women’s Leadership & Mental Well-being Course (AWLC) — a safe, transformational leadership experience that has now reached over 1,078 African women across more than twenty countries. Shortly thereafter, we launched the Certificate in Leadership for Faith Changemakers (CLFC), equipping 462 pastors and ministry leaders to turn faith into practical impact within their communities.

These programs became the heartbeat of ALT. Across 11 African countries, with 42 volunteers and six university partners, we have trained over 1,540 people in purpose-driven, ethical leadership — despite economic constraints, limited resources, and a continent still recovering from global shocks.
And yet, as our 2025 Impact Report shows, we have only scratched the surface. Africa will be home to one in four people on the planet by 2050. The need — and opportunity —for leadership has never been greater.
Leadership is growing here — and we would love you to be part of this story.
